F o c u s

Since I took up painting practice rather late and emigrated at a fairly mature age, I fully feel my being outsider  as part of my personal history. The fact that I am just entering Israeli art scene frees my hands to a very large extent, I feel a research interest in materials and their interaction, and the issue of transitiveness of practice, the transfer of emotions and sensations within the framework of modern painting is very important for me. Since I have been engaged in modernist painting practice for a long time, formal searches for an expressive language of signs and symbols never cease to excite me, and I see my task in reflexive deconstruction and the use of this language in compositional studies.

M e t h o d

The primacy of the aesthetic is very important for me as the very essence of painting, which is the creation of color, light and form on a plane. Therefore, I define the way and method of work for myself as a daily painting practice, in which the technical capabilities of media are constantly being studied with a constant rethinking of the interaction of material and surface. This way of working brings certain conclusions, such as the importance of rehearsal, a special focus on the surrounding objects, an approach to the series not as a monolithic object, but as a mini-study of aesthetic and narrative meta-message with a variable approach to the technique of performance.

M e d i u m

The main medium for me is painting, as the most suitable way to connect me as an artist with work. As a means of expression I use the principle of collage, also, in the framework of my research activities with materials, I work with textiles and with some non-traditional materials such as plastic and oilcloth. As I noted above, I prefer to work in series, because it is the series for me that is a unit of research interest and semantic completeness.
